Captain’s
Mid Season Message 2010
Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to update you
on how the season is progressing and also to encourage you all to participate in the remaining matches and competitions this
season. As always, details can be found on the SGA website (www.shapegolf.org). Our membership remains strong and once again this year we have benefitted from generous
sponsorship for all our events, both at RGCH and Mont Garni. The next competition is Help for Heroes on
24 July 2010, a charity and social event. This is part of the National Golf Club Challenge with the challenge being all about the golfing community coming together
on the same weekend in support of our wounded armed forces. Players from the six top scoring clubs will
be invited to attend the grand final at the Belfry where the National Golf Club Challenge champions will be crowned.
It is not too late to sign up for the golf or just the social event in the evening.
Our main event of the season, the SGA Masters, follows on 21 August 2010.
The format will be similar to last year with 27 hole strokeplay and 18 hole stableford events running simultaneously.
The winner of the strokeplay competition will win the coveted ‘green jacket’. Please
look at the notice boards in building 101 and at RGCH for details and the sign up sheets. We would also
welcome non-playing members to help us run the event on the day.
With all our competitions and matches, I would encourage you to support the prize
giving and dinners. This is as much a part of the event as the golf. A reminder that
attire for prizewinners, and the dinner after matches, is jacket and tie. If you are unable to return for
the prize giving I would also ask that you do not append your name to the markers for nearest the pin or pros approach as
it is difficult to pass those prizes on to the next in line.
A note on etiquette, especially as we prepare for the masters, but no less important for all competitions
and matches. Please ensure that you arrive in plenty of time to make your tee time, keep up with the pace
of play and leave bags at the side or rear of the green to avoid delays and unnecessary slow play.
I
would like to thank the committee and all those who have contributed to the golfing year so far. As I look
to the future, I would welcome offers of support and, of course, volunteers for next year’s committee.
Finally, I hope you will all continue to enjoy the challenges of golf at RGCH
and Mont Garni, and wish you the best of luck for the reminder of the 2010 season.

Captain’s Message 2010
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to welcome you all to the SHAPE Golf Association. Having recently returned
to regular golf I quickly learned that membership of the SGA offers great opportunities for players of all levels.
In addition, our close association with Royal Golf Club du Hainaut and Mont Garni provides excellent, if at times challenging, venues for both
competitive and social golf.
The reputation of the SGA at SHAPE and within
the local golfing community, remains strong, thanks to the efforts of the current and past members. Therefore,
the committee and I remain fully committed:
“To continue to
promote golf within the international community at SHAPE and to further the friendly relations we enjoy in the local golfing
community”
I commend this website to you. It
provides the necessary information to play golf with the SGA and, in particular, at RGCH and Mont Garni, both of whom offer
us excellent facilities at competitive rates.
As ever, we rely heavily on our
committee, which has an exciting programme of events planned for 2010. I would encourage you to support
as many events as you are able. I think we all enjoy the challenges of golf, while accepting
the frustrations, but let’s not forget the fun. I look forward to seeing you out on the course
or at the club and wish you the best of luck for the 2010 season.
