Rules of the Competition
The
SGA Masters/ Lemnitzer Trophy is a SGA sponsored competition played at RGCH. It
is a one-day, 27-hole, Strokeplay (maximum handicap 24.4) competition.
Format
The competition
will be played in 2 Divisions:
Division
1. 27-hole
Strokeplay competition from white tees for men (playing handicap 0-24.4) and blue tees for ladies and juniors 12 years of
age and under (playing h’cap 0-24.4).
For
the net competition, full Handicap and slope rating will apply.
In
the case of ties (GROSS and NET), the count back system will be utilized.
This is a count back of the last 9 holes, then the last 6 holes, and finally the last 3 holes, if necessary.
In
order to maintain the pace of competition, players are reminded to play a provisional ball if there is any doubt regarding
a wayward shot.
Division
2. An individual
18-hole Stableford competition (playing handicap 24.5 and above) for players not wishing to enter Division 1. Play will be from yellow and red tees respectively with full handicap allowance.
SGA
golfers with playing handicaps greater that 24 who wish
to play for the SGA Masters/Lemnitzer trophies may enter Division 1 but will be required to play off a maximum playing
handicap of 24.4.
Courses & Order of Play
The
order of courses for the day will be determined by RGCH. Players in Division 1 will start the competition and will tee off in handicap order (lowest first), followed by Division
2.
Cost of Entry
There
will be a €6.00 entry fee.
SGA Members who are not RGCH Members will be able to pay a Green fee of 27 Euros as entry to the competition, which
for 27 holes of golf over a very challenging course is a good deal.
Social
The
prize giving will take place at 6.30pm or as soon as possible after and will be followed by a Vin d'honneur and Barbeque. The SGA Fund will subsidise the cost of the BBQ by 5 Euros per person resulting in
a cost of 10 Euros per head for adults and 5 Euros for children. Dress will be
jacket and tie and equivalent for ladies for the prize giving and then relaxed (ie Jackets and Ties removed) for the BBQ.
Eligibility/Prize Giving
This
event is open to all SGA and RGCH members holding a recognized and verified handicap.
Only SGA members may win the SGA Masters and Lemnitzter Green Jacket (best Net and Gross score in Division one), and
associated trophy.
All
other prizes (1st-3rd place each division, best net score on each 3 nine holes and pro’s approach/closest to the pin)
are open to all competitors. As usual, you are required to be present at the
prize giving, unless the SGA Captain specifically approves your absence, in order to receive your prize.
