“As we approach August, when many of our members are away, I wanted to take the opportunity
to thank you all for your support of the SGA. You’ve no doubt observed some of the improvements we’ve made: this
website, the “Captain’s Bunker” at RGCH , and solid attendance at our weekly Scrambles, to name a few. We
continue to learn and we will continue to improve the services we provide you, the members of the SGA. If you have a suggestion,
or if you want to volunteer to help, please let me know.”
“There are some great competitions and matches in the weeks and months ahead. On August
23, the SGA once again hosts the Masters and Lemnitzer Competitions. This is a stroke play event for both low gross score
and for low net based on updated handicaps, and there are many prize categories beyond the coveted “green jackets”
for the winners of the low gross/low net contests. I ask you to make note of the rules governing stroke play, and those rules
that will pertain directly to this great event. For example, in the event of a tie for low gross or low net score, we will
use the “count back” procedure in place at RGCH . For the low net competition, the total number of strokes you
are allowed will be determined by your handicap and by the slope rating from the appropriate tees. If you have any questions
whatsoever on the rules, don’t hesitate to ask – BEFORE you tee off – for a very memorable round of 27 holes
of golf.
I remain extremely proud of
our collective accomplishments to date. We are truly fortunate to have a Committee willing to work for our enjoyment of the
game we all love. I wish you all the very best for the rest of the season!”
