The annual Joulwan Cup took place at the Royal Golf Club du Hainaut on 6 June 2009. General George A Joulwan the former SACEUR (1993-1997) who founded the competition travelled from the USA
to attend.
We were blessed with some fine weather on the day, attracting a good turnout, with 66 SGA and RGCH
members taking part. The competition was a 3 ball stableford, with mixed teams
of SGA and RGCH with the best two stableford scores to count on each hole. This
format provided an ideal opportunity to promote the General’s wishes of cooperation and friendship between members of
SGA and RCGH.
The team of Robert and Deborah Hawkins and Wouter De Geus scored a massive 89 points to clinch first
prize of a camera each and the Joulwan Cup. The team of Tim Ketter, Dan Hodgson
and Pierre Laforce with an equally impressive 86 points picked up second place.
The General’s team with Michel Grimard and Suzanne Keates did manage to pick up fifth prize with a very respectable
83 points.
RCGH and SGA would like to thank General Joulwan for his continued support at this event and look
forward to seeing him next year.
We would also like to extend a special thanks to our sponsor V Alexander for the superb prizes on
the day.
