Littlestone Golf Club v SHAPE GOLF TEAM

With an 80% chance of rain expected the team from Littlestone arrived at RGCH at 1130 on the 15th May. The Captain of Littlestone arrived a little later having driven around Mons 3 times. After a drink and sandwiches both teams headed off to the range to warm-up before battle commenced. On paper the teams were very evenly matched, both teams having many single figure handicaps.

Hush descended on the 1st tee apart from when Lenny teed off. The weather was holding out, NO rain, the first fourball set out on Bruyere at 1300. From the stories afterwards on the terrace, some great golf was played out on the course. After the singles the SHAPE team had a commanding lead.

Dinner in the club was again a splendid affair with a wonderful spread laid on by the staff (Sean donate his Skins money as a Tip!!!), we got away with only a couple of jokes from Lenny. The host and guest dispersed to various houses around SHAPE and some continued to party into the night.

Next morning bleary eyed we all met for a cooked breakfast before the 4BBB matches. Unfortunately we had to endure 15mins of rain, the first and last over the 2 days. Again evenly matched groups set off on Les Etangs and the SHAPE team once again showed their knowledge of the course to be an advantage.

We all enjoyed a fabulous lunch on the terrace in bright sunshine and reminisced about long drives and missed putts. We finished lunch with a few words from both Captains and a promise to continue the hostilities at Littlestone on the 7/8th Oct.

The result so far is 32 ½ - 12 ½ to be continue at Littlestone G.C.
